Description

Immediate need for a Highway / Road Asset Engineer (Value Management) in West Yorkshire to work on a large Asset Support contract for Highways England

You will be part of a team carrying out walking and driven inspections of highway assets to the Highways England standards and recording the outcomes into the maintenance management system. You will report to the Highways Asset Inspection Manager

Main responsibilities:
Health Safety & Environment:
To work in a safe and responsible manner on the highway network
Understand and follow job specific risk assessments and method statements
Ensure method statements remain current, provide feedback to line manager when amendments are required to either method statements or risk assessments

Technical/Operational Organise and carry out inspections in compliance with the Asset Maintenance Team Requirement Plan and any Highways England standards as required. To upload survey routes out of the maintenance management system, onto hand held data capture devices prior to site surveys Manage defects and inspections in the maintenance management system. To carry out night-time road marking and road stud reflectively surveys. To recognise and categorise defects on the network and record them in the maintenance management system. To report any safety critical issue identified during an inspection to the network control centre. To categorise the condition of highways assets.

People: Always behave in a professional manner when interacting with the public Commercial an understanding of how inspections are funded and ensure the best use of time when on inspection routes Combine inspection operations with other operations where possible to reduce traffic management costs
