Description


An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader working as part of a manufacturing team based in Birmingham to join a market leading company manufacturing a range of commercial products.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role and have experience with one of the following:

Spraying
Assembly
Brazing / Metal work

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Leading a team of permanent and agency personnel, assisting in the delivery of production capacity and efficiencies, ensuring the product is despatched on time, in full, and exceeds customers' quality requirements, whilst maintaining health and safety standards.






AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
(main duties and limits of responsibility)

People Management
  • Control manpower to ensure case builds, and hourly targets are met or exceeded.
  • Communicate information fluently to the team, using easily understood terminology.
  • Assist in the training and development of operators, inline with business requirements, i.e. as identified on skills matrix.
  • Informally address capability and conduct issues within immediate team
  • Attend counselling / support log meetings with Section Leaders, in an observatory capacity.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, best practice operations, and established methods.
  • Conduct effect shift handovers
  • Conduct return to work interviews


Health, Safety, Environmental & Wellbeing
  • Ensure operators comply with statutory H&S rules and regulations.
  • Ensure use of correct PPE by operators.
  • Assist in accident investigations
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Identify and report areas for improvement, to next in line and H&S Manager.
  • Carry out local inductions, ensuring new operators are immediately aware of their H&S responsibilities, and comply with all legislative and Company procedures


Quality
  • Ensure operators complete required documentation, providing assistance where necessary.
  • Ensure departmental documentation is completed during the shift (i.e. OCS sheets, First Off/Last Off Sign Off, OTIF Sign Off).
  • Be first port of call for operators to raise issues.
  • Raise and close out CARs.
  • Liaise with Quality Department on suspected quality-related issues.
  • Participate in problem solving exercises/teams.
  • Ensure required quality standards are maintained.


Cost
  • Ensure the delivery of the shift plan, through efficient and effective utilisation of production capacity and labour.
  • Identify and report areas for costs savings, to next in line.
  • Maintain budgetary control relating to use of manpower, including standard hours worked and overtime, etc, within own area


Delivery
  • Review OTIF documentation.
  • Control production processes and machinery to ensure quality, OTIF and output targets are met.



Self
  • Maintains and develops own skills and experience , specifically relating to:
    • Professional development
    • Health & Safety
    • Continuous improvement
    • Measures and Monitors
    • Human Resources, e.g. attendance management in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Escalate any issues that cannot be resolved locally, to next appropriate person in line, e.g. line manager, HSE Manager, HR representative, etc.


For the right candidate a basic salary in the region of £32,000 will be on offer - this will be working as part of a shift pattern with the hours being 06:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 22:00.
