Description

Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor

Manchester

Salary: £55,000 to £70,000

Job Ref: 20677

Calibre Search are recruiting on behalf of a niche engineering design and build contractor based in Manchester Trafford Park for a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor. Due to continued expansion and a progression of works, they are looking to expand the commercial team with the appointment of this Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor. This role could also be in the mould of a Commercial Manager too. You will be working on projects UK wide up a build value of £5M and that figure is exclusively M&E equipment and engineered products as most of the projects that they work in are MEP or Civil works. You will be joining a £100M+ turnover business who employ over 60 people across two sites. The central function is in South Yorkshire and the main Commercial team is placed there. The continued approach moving forward in the future is that a Commercial team and Operations team will also be based in the Manchester region.

You will be dealing with Planning, Costings, Forecasting, Estimation and Valuation. Value Engineering and management, feasibility studies and cost benefit analysis will be a steady part of your workload as well as any dispute resolution and report writing required along the way.

Initially you will be working on or at least have worked on Rail projects. This could be Railways Depots or Stations rather than Trackside or OLE Specific schemes. The projects that you will undertake as a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor will be based UK wide and therefore it is expected that you will travel as and when is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Proven experience as a QS operating at a very Senior level within an MEP environment.
  • Be able to chair meetings and have the leadership skills needed to lead a project team, which may sometimes include managing conflict and resolving complex issues
  • Have exceptional planning and organisation skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple demands
  • Be able to work independently, make sensible judgments and decisions, and take responsibility for doing whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • To assist in the management of the delivery of all pre & post contract services, comprising dealing with cost variances and associated change control processes, conducting valuation processes, carrying out cost checks, producing regular cost reports, negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
  • A clear understanding of Building Regulations and other legal guidelines

If this is of interest, please send your CV across for the role.
