An opportunity has arisen in York or Leeds for a Technician with strong Highways engineering experience to join a team that have one of the largest involvements in High-Speed Rail 2. You will be involved in both Highways and Rail design using Open Roads, MicroStation and CAD. You will be required to show that you are an expert in the use of OpenRoads when applying for this role.
This team is extremely well regarded, and you will be able to learn from some of the best engineers and technicians whilst working on arguably the most high-profile engineering project in the UK right now, HS2.
You will be able to work from either their York or Leeds office flexibly with the requirement to be in just 2 days a week. This team is spread across both offices, so it really is to suit yourself. They can offer fantastic benefits, competitive salaries, and career development.
Technician Daily Responsibilities- Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM legislation.
- Develop your skills to enable the team to meet business objectives.
- Deliver tasks to the required quality, time and budget under direction by others, with self-checking.
- Have a positive attitude towards checking and quality. Work with other team members and other teams to ensure compliance with CAD standards and quality requirements, taking necessary corrective action.
- Plan and prioritise assigned tasks effectively for yourself and other team members, reporting back on progress and delivering on commitments you have made.
- Knowledge of the relationship between hours worked and project cost, budgets and commercial pressures.
- Contribute to the team's achievement of Annual Plan by meeting or exceeding project targets.
Experience Required- Experience of OpenRoads is key in this role with MicroStation & CAD desirable.
- Experience of using data management systems.
- Knowledge of safety standards and CDM regulations and able to identify hazards in designs.
- Knowledge of civil engineering design principles and standards.
- Knowledge of construction principles and standards.
- Experience within the rail sector that is relevant to the team's work.
- Knowledge of the importance of planning, delivery and timescales.
- Knowledge of the transportation sector.
