Calibre Search are proud to be working with one of the world leaders in Design Engineering on a number of projects across the UK. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects with the Environment Agency and HS2 amongst others on schemes that will make a positive difference to people across the country.
Due to an uptake in projects across the country, they are currently seeking a number of enthusiastic, positive and confident Flood Modellers to work across the UK. These roles will be home based and split between working for the client and then also Local Authorities, the EA and other private clients. They are seeking a self-motivated individual to provide technical leadership of projects, mentor junior team members and produce high quality technical deliverables for the range of complex flood risk projects that they deliver for the Environment Agency, Local Authority and private clients.
The role requires a specific understanding of 1D / 2D fluvial flood modelling for flood risk management and land use planning and the ability to innovate to review and develop the data, tools and techniques used in fluvial flood modelling. It is imperative that you have an understanding of how flood risk information is used (especially in terms of standards and use of national datasets) , experience and ability to apply the techniques, modelling packages, data and guidance used in 1D / 2D fluvial flood modelling and experience of providing technical leadership, coaching and mentoring
Previous experience of EA secondment / projects is required for this role, as is experience of working with the Environment Agency in the context of flood risk management. Experience managing the technical delivery of projects/packages of work and previous experience undertaking quality assurance reviews and audits of technical works undertaken by others, including undertaking of Flood Risk Assessments.
You must be proficient in the use of TuFlow, Flood Modeller (ISIS) and possibly even InfoWorks ICM hydraulic modelling software packages and relevant supporting software packages (SMS, MapInfo, ArcGIS and / or QGIS). Other beneficial skills include experience in hydrological analysis including FEH and ReFH. You will also have a Bachelor level qualification and Chartered / near Chartered member of a recognised professional body
This role will be home based initially but as time progresses you may be required to go into Clients offices and also to site.
