What HVAC Engineers Expect from a Role

Our 2026 FM Pulse survey of over 300 engineers found that the total package matters as much as basic salary. Door-to-door travel pay and overtime structure can be worth £5,000 to £7,000 a year to an engineer, and provision varies widely across the sector. Over 80% of refrigeration engineers receive door-to-door pay. Among electricians, it's 20%.
