We are currently partnered with a well established UK structural engineering consultancy, as they look to add a Structural Engineer to their division in Central London.

You will have knowledge of structural design and engineering techniques and be responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. You will also devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs and monitor work for compliance codes and accepted engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing structures to current regulatory standards
  • Tracking project progress and reporting on results
  • Choosing appropriate materials to ensure durability
  • Attending site visits, monitor and inspect all work undertaken by contractors to ensure structural
  • soundness
  • Prepare reports, designs, and drawings
  • Make calculations about pressures, loads, and stresses
  • Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction
  • Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval
  • Analyse configurations of the basic components of a structure
  • Liaise with professional staff such as architects and engineers
  • Use computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-6 years' experience post-university degree qualification
  • Experience in design to British Standards and Euro Codes is essential
  • Structural analysis skills in all common design materials
  • Proficiency in design engineering software such as Tekla, TEDDS, Robot, Scia and CADS RC
  • Ability to draw in AutoCAD
  • Revit skills also desirable
  • Ability to perform calculations by hand from first principles
  • Exceptional report writing skills
