About the Role & Company
An established MEP design consultancy with a growing Birmingham office is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to support a busy pipeline of new build projects across the residential, healthcare, and higher education sectors.
You'll join a compact, delivery-focused team working on projects up to RIBA Stage 4a. The office is led by a director who splits his time between project delivery and business development - with plans to step fully into BD once the team is strengthened. That's where you come in.
You'll sit within the enegineering team and senior leadership, providing hands-on design expertise and mentoring junior team members, without the pressure of business development targets. The culture is supportive and social, with regular networking events, charity involvement, and plenty of opportunity for professional growth.
Projects are primarily local and span a huge variety of sectors. This is a true design consultancy role - not facilities or FM - with a focus on technical quality and client collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver mechanical building services designs to RIBA Stage 4a
Produce drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports
Collaborate with design teams and contribute to project meetings
Support and guide junior engineers (non-managerial)

Keep up to date with industry standards, software and best practices
What you'll need
HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (degree desirable)
Proficiency with mechanical building systems and design tools
Strong understanding of HVAC, water, and heating systems
Experience in UK building services across education, residential or healthcare
Effective communicator who can work independently within a team
What You'll Get
Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience
Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home)
35-hour working week with flexible hours
24 days holiday plus birthday off and option to swap bank holidays
Active, inclusive company culture with regular socials and charity events
Long-term career development as the office team expands
