Overview
We are currently working in partnership with a leading global consultancy renowned for delivering innovative sustainability and infrastructure solutions. This award-winning organisation is expanding its UK-based Transport Engineering team and seeking a Senior Highways Engineer with strong consultancy experience, particularly in Active Travel Design, Roundabout Design and Junction Design.

The Role
As Senior Highway Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design and delivery of highways and infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on the preparation of detailed designs, feasibility studies, and technical reports
  • Managing projects including budgeting, costings, and preparing Bills of Quantities
  • Ensuring designs comply with specifications, health & safety regulations (including CDM), and environmental standards
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and third parties, including overseeing negotiations and technical discussions
  • Providing mentorship and support to junior engineers and technical staff
  • Coordinating with internal teams across multi-disciplinary projects

About You
You'll be a motivated and technically confident engineer with a background in civil/infrastructure consultancy. We're looking for:

  • Experience delivering S278/S38 schemes within a consultancy or client-side environment
  • Strong Active Travel or other Public Sector highways design schemes experience
  • Strong working knowledge of DMRB and Manual for Streets
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and other relevant design software
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
  • A clear understanding of health & safety legislation relevant to infrastructure projects
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with the confidence to lead and collaborate effectively
