About the Role
A leading UK-based specialist engineering consultancy is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (Temporary Works) to join its expanding team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and motivated engineer looking to work on high-profile construction and infrastructure projects across the UK.
You will play a key role in delivering geotechnical solutions for complex temporary works challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and applying your expertise to design safe, innovative, and sustainable engineering solutions.

Geotechnical Engineer (Temporary Works) Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver geotechnical solutions for temporary works including excavation support systems, retaining walls, ground anchors, foundation designs, and slope stabilisation.
  • Provide geotechnical input on multidisciplinary temporary works schemes, working closely with clients, contractors, and internal design teams.
  • Undertake geotechnical analysis using tools such as PLAXIS, Wallap, Slope/W, and similar software.
  • Prepare technical reports, method statements, risk assessments, and design certificates.
  • Conduct site inspections, support site investigations, and contribute to design reviews ensuring compliance with current regulations and best practice.
  • Drive innovation and safety in geotechnical and temporary works design.

Geotechnical Engineer (Temporary Works) Profile

  • BEng or MEng in Geotechnical, Civil, or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience in geotechnical design and/or temporary works, ideally within a UK consultancy or contractor.
  • Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and CDM regulations.
  • Proficient in design and analysis software such as PLAXIS, Oasys Suite, Wallap, or equivalent.
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
  • Working towards or holding chartered status (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent).
