Overview
We're working with a national building services consultancy that is seeking a Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer to join its growing Bristol office. With a current team of nine and a diverse project portfolio spanning education, residential, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors, this is a key leadership role offering real influence and autonomy.
This appointment is part of a strategic succession plan, with the current office lead planning to retire in the next 12-18 months. As such, the role is well-suited to an experienced Senior Electrical engineer looking to take the next step or an established associate ready to take on broader business and team leadership responsibilities.
The business has a strong sustainability ethos and a well-established support network across its UK offices, but each regional team is empowered to win and deliver its own work-creating a genuine opportunity to lead both technically and commercially.
Role
As a Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer, you'll play a lead role in delivering technically challenging projects while overseeing quality, client engagement, and team development. You'll manage project teams, support bids, and contribute to the future direction of the Bristol office.
You'll also have the opportunity to support cross-office collaboration and mentor junior staff while developing long-term relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or HNC/HND with strong industry experience)
Proven track record delivering complex building services projects across sectors
Minimum 6-8 years' experience in electrical building services design
Strong commercial acumen with experience leading project teams
Confident in client-facing roles and business development activity
Knowledge of Revit, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and UK design standards
Chartered Engineer status or actively working toward it (CIBSE, IET)
Desire to take on office or team leadership in the near term
What They Offer
Key leadership role with clear progression to office lead
Agile and flexible working culture
Well-established national infrastructure with local autonomy
Competitive salary and enhanced benefits including generous leave and wellbeing support
Exposure to a wide variety of technically complex, sustainability-driven projects
Supportive and collaborative working environment with long-term growth plans
