Contract Electrical Engineer - Outside IR35

Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester
Contract: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Duration: Ongoing contract
Rate: Competitive (DOE)

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contract Electrical Engineer to join a busy building services consultancy in Bolton. This role is ideal for contractors seeking outside IR35 work with full-time hours, varied project exposure, and competitive day rates.

You'll be working on a wide range of projects including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and leisure developments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Electrical design and specification across LV/HV distribution, lighting & power, fire alarms, emergency systems, CCTV and security systems.
• Producing detailed drawings, schematics, and load calculations using relevant software.
• Carrying out design reviews, compliance checks, and QA processes.
• Working closely with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Conducting site inspections, surveys, and witness testing.
• Supporting tender documentation, cost planning, and technical reporting.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer within building services / M&E consultancy.
• Knowledge of BS standards, IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition), HV/LV systems, lighting and security systems.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech (or similar).
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
