Role - Intermediate Fire Engineer

Location - Manchester

Salary - up to £40,000

An established and growing consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Fire Engineer to join their team in Manchester. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of projects across the UK, with a strong focus on design and consultancy rather than installation or maintenance.

The successful candidate will join a national Fire Engineering practice of around 30 engineers, with growth plans for the Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a few years of experience who is ready to take on more responsibility and further develop their technical expertise.

The Role

The Fire Engineer will:

  • Develop fire strategies for projects across sectors such as defence, nuclear, transport, energy, and residential.

  • Contribute to fire and smoke modelling (CFD), performance-based design, and safety compliance.

  • Support projects from early design through to delivery.

  • Conduct fire risk assessments, technical reporting, and site visits.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the UK, contributing to technical development within the team.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering (preferably fire engineering) or a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering.

  • 2-5 years' experience in a fire design/consultancy role.

  • Familiarity with fire safety standards (e.g. BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545).

  • CFD/fire modelling experience desirable.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • UK nationality (SC Clearance eligibility advantageous).

What's on Offer

  • Salary in the range of £32,000 - £40,000, depending on experience.

  • The opportunity to work on diverse and high-profile projects across multiple sectors.

  • A structured career pathway with development support, including progress towards chartership.

  • The chance to be part of a supportive and expanding national team, with real scope to shape the Manchester office's growth.
