Role - Principal / Associate Fire Engineer
Location - Bristol
Salary - up to £82,000
An established and growing consultancy is seeking a Principal / Associate Fire Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead major projects across the UK, with a strong focus on fire safety design and consultancy.
The successful candidate will join a national Fire Engineering practice of around 30 engineers, with growth plans for the Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who is looking to take on greater leadership responsibilities while shaping the direction of a regional team.
The Role
The Fire Engineer will:
Lead the delivery of fire engineering projects across sectors such as defence, nuclear, transport, energy, and commercial.
Develop and oversee fire strategies, risk assessments, and fire safety compliance.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
Play a key role in tenders, bids, and client engagement.
Contribute to technical capability across the wider UK practice.
Attend design meetings, site visits, and represent fire engineering to stakeholders.
Requirements
Degree in engineering (preferably fire engineering) or a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering.
Significant experience in fire design and consultancy, ideally with exposure to structural fire engineering.
Familiarity with fire safety standards (e.g. BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545).
Proven experience in project leadership and team management.
Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
UK nationality (SC Clearance eligibility advantageous).
