Are you an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with a background in construction, environmental or flood and coastal engineering projects? Do you want to join an organisation that delivers projects with genuine social value and actively supports professional development?

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our clients thriving Leeds office, where you will take the lead on technical design work across a broad range of civil and structural engineering projects. These will include schemes within flood defence, the rail sector and the built environment. The role offers the chance to work both on consultancy commissions and on design-and-build projects, giving you the opportunity to collaborate closely with construction teams and see your designs realised on the ground.

As part of the team, you will oversee the delivery of detailed design work, structural assessments and temporary works, ensuring that solutions are practical, robust and buildable. You will take responsibility for guiding and mentoring junior engineers and technicians, with the opportunity to move into line management as your role develops. Reporting to a Technical Director, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, innovative and sustainable schemes that address the challenges of climate change, environmental resilience and infrastructure renewal.

We are looking for someone who brings a strong technical background and the confidence to work independently. A degree in civil or structural engineering is essential, and we would expect you to be chartered or near-chartered with ICE or IStructE. You should be comfortable designing by hand as well as using software packages such as TEDDS, STRAP, FE analysis software or Robot, and you will be well-versed in Eurocode design with a good understanding of British Standards. A track record in UK consultancy or design and build projects is important, particularly experience in areas such as retaining walls, flood embankments, pumping stations, water-retaining and tidal structures, bridge design and assessment, foundations, steelwork, masonry and stonework, and temporary works. Familiarity with BIM Level 3 processes and extranet platforms will also be valuable, while experience with AutoCAD, Revit and organisations such as the Environment Agency, Network Rail or the Coal Authority would be an advantage.
