Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Huddersfield (with hybrid working options)


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor / Contract Administrator to join a well-established and expanding Contract Administration team. You'll be working alongside a mix of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers ranging from recent graduates to senior professionals.
We're looking for someone who can balance being a strong team player with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward. Ideally, you'll have a minimum of 5 years' post-degree experience and be Chartered (or working towards Chartership).

The Role

  • You'll be involved in a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including:
  • Acting as Contract Administrator
  • Preparing specifications and schedules of work
  • Carrying out site inspections and quality management
  • Attending site meetings and managing cost control
  • Design co-ordination and CDM Consultant / Principal Designer duties
  • Party Wall Act surveys and property surveys
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Key project management duties include:
  • Interpreting and delivering project briefs and scopes of service
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Managing project communication, including notices and certificates
  • Overseeing contractors on site through visits and meetings
  • Planning resources in line with project programmes and deliverables
  • Ensuring quality assurance and stage deliverables are met
  • Resolving project issues quickly and effectively to client satisfaction
  • Providing regular updates to senior management on progress and budgets


The Ideal Candidate

  • RICS or CIOB accredited construction degree
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in both new build and refurbishment projects
  • Strong technical background and current experience providing similar services
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior team members
  • Confident communicator with proven client-facing experience
  • Ability to manage client relationships and service delivery on multiple projects
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with autonomy
  • Full UK driving licence
