Civil CAD Technician / Design CAD Engineer
West Yorkshire
Salary up to £45k, depending on experience
An established Civil Engineering and utilities services provider is seeking a Civil CAD Technician / Design CAD Engineer to join their integrated design team. This role will support the delivery of both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including work on major water frameworks, from outline design through to detailed design, construction and commissioning support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and managing high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings in line with client specifications and design standards, while also supporting the wider design process by preparing reports, specifications, calculations and estimates. You will work with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage, with experience of BIM integration and the use of Common Data Environments such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM360 considered highly advantageous.
You will collaborate with engineers, technicians and other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of overall designs, contribute to the resolution of technical issues, and provide ongoing design support through the construction and commissioning phases. The role also involves assisting with project planning and programming, maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring quality and environmental procedures are adhered to in line with ISO standards.
Applicants should hold a relevant qualification in civil engineering, CAD or a related discipline, and demonstrate proven experience within the UK water sector, ideally involving civil and drainage design for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. Knowledge of UK Water Industry standards, Sewer Sector Guidance and hydraulic design principles is essential, while surveying experience and familiarity with MEICA would be an advantage. A full UK driving licence is required.
This position would suit someone with strong communication and organisational skills who is proactive, detail-focused and keen to continue professional development. A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety and environmental awareness, together with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders, is essential.
