Leeds
We are working with a progressive, employee-owned Consultancy that combines environmental and engineering expertise, delivering design and construction projects that support communities and climate resilience. They are seeking a Senior Chartered Engineer to lead and direct design teams.
In this role you will provide both design leadership and technical accountability across a variety of appraisal and detailed design projects. Your background should be within Civil Engineering (or a related discipline) with experience in infrastructure, flood risk management, and/or environmental asset management. You will join a motivated team working for a mix of public and private sector clients (including regulators and local authorities) on projects that make a tangible difference to local communities and the environment.
Your responsibilities will include managing projects, contracts and budgets, preparing specifications, liaising with clients, developing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, driving the design process to ensure project deliverables meet client needs, and championing technical innovation (including uptake of the latest methodologies and tools). You will provide insight for business development, lead or support tender submissions, build relationships with clients and wider stakeholders, and ensure safety-in-design and Designer's responsibilities under CDM are upheld. You will also support initiatives across buildability, carbon reduction, sustainability, social value and digital transformation.
Based in their Leeds office, this role offers a flexible working/hybrid arrangement. The office is modern, centrally located, well connected by transport, and provides cycle-storage facilities.
You will hold a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering (or similar), and you will be a Chartered or Incorporated member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), or hold an equivalent chartership in geotechnical, mechanical or electrical disciplines. A full UK driving licence is also required.
The ideal candidate is hardworking, committed and enthusiastic, effective in communication and team working, and has experience mentoring junior staff and leading a team.
This Consultancy offers a healthy work/life balance, a generous training budget, support for professional development (including chartered status), an employee-owned ethos, flexible working hours and a wide range of benefits including health & wellbeing schemes, salary sacrifice options, cycle-to-work, and EV salary sacrifice arrangements. They are committed to equality of opportunity, welcome career-break returners, veterans, and encourage applicants who may not meet every criterion but are passionate about the work.
