Overview
A leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based in Edinburgh is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its established Energy & Special Projects team. The role involves delivering complex, high-profile building services and energy projects across the UK and internationally. You will be working on technically advanced and environmentally significant schemes, including large-scale decarbonisation programmes, remote-location infrastructure and innovative power and MEP systems, all delivered using Revit and aligned with ISO 19650 digital engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead and support the delivery of electrical design activities across RIBA Stages 2-7 for energy, industrial, commercial and remote-environment projects. The work includes producing detailed designs for LV electrical installations and distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, cabling and control equipment. You will prepare feasibility studies, concept designs, calculations, specifications, drawings and models, while coordinating closely with mechanical, civil, structural and architectural disciplines.
A central part of the role involves providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, participating in design and site meetings, managing workload and deliverables, and ensuring effective communication with clients and project stakeholders. You will also support BIM workflows, including clash detection and information management in accordance with ISO 19650 requirements.
About You
You should be degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or a related electrical engineering discipline, and either professionally qualified or working towards chartership through CIBSE or the IET. You will have proven experience in electrical building services design within multidisciplinary environments and be proficient in Revit, Navisworks, Amtech and Dialux. Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving. Experience in HV design would be advantageous but is not essential.
What's on Offer
The role offers a competitive salary depending on experience, along with a structured hybrid working model of three days in the office and two from home. You will have the opportunity to work on major sustainability-led and technically challenging engineering projects, with access to professional development, mentoring and chartership support. The team provides a supportive and innovative environment focused on quality and technical excellence.
