An established and forward-thinking civil and structural engineering Consultancy with a strong reputation for technical excellence and employee focus is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing structural engineering team. The business actively pursues a clear vision of being a place where people can do their best work, supported by a positive, agile and problem-solving culture, and offers flexible working arrangements, free on-site parking and an industry-leading pension scheme.

The successful individual will play a key role within the structural team, taking primary responsibility for the delivery of high-quality structural engineering design services across a diverse range of projects. The role will involve undertaking and overseeing structural design in accordance with current industry standards and regulations, while contributing to the production and review of technical drawings, calculations and specifications. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, the Senior Structural Engineer will help to develop coordinated and integrated design solutions that meet both client and project objectives.

You will be expected to manage their workload in a structured and proactive manner, coordinating with colleagues in response to fluctuations in resource demand and assisting with the prioritisation of project delivery to meet programme and commercial requirements. In addition to technical delivery, the position carries responsibility for providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior members of the team, helping to maintain consistently high technical standards across projects. Building and sustaining strong working relationships with clients, collaborators and other stakeholders will be an important aspect of the role, alongside contributing positively to the wider team environment.

The role would suit a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or an individual working towards professional accreditation with a relevant institution. Applicants should hold a degree in civil or structural engineering or an equivalent qualification, with a master's degree considered advantageous. A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience within an engineering design Consultancy is required, with demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of complex projects. Candidates working towards Chartered or Incorporated status should typically have at least eight years of relevant industry experience.

The successful candidate will be capable of undertaking and leading small to medium-sized projects with minimal supervision, including leading concept and detailed design reviews as part of a staged design process. Strong experience is required in the structural design and assessment of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures using current UK Standards and Eurocodes. Proficiency in industry-standard structural analysis and design software, such as Tekla Structural Designer or similar, is essential, along with confident use of design spreadsheets including Excel and TEDDS, and familiarity with detailing software such as AutoCAD and Revit.

Experience in specifying construction information using systems such as NBS is required, together with the ability to undertake structural condition surveys and produce high-quality technical reports to demanding deadlines. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, engaging and collaborative, with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with both clients and internal team members. A full UK driving licence is required.
