A fantastic opportunity has opened for a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join a well-established ground engineering consultancy in Manchester. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer ready to transition into technical delivery, project management, and team leadership -while still applying their site knowledge in a more strategic capacity.
You'll take ownership of projects from cradle to grave, overseeing delivery from initial proposal through to final reporting, all within a predominantly office-based environment.
Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer (Project Manager) Role
As a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer (Project Manager), you'll play a key role in managing a wide range of geotechnical and geo-environmental projects across the UK, with a strong focus on technical delivery and client management.
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing projects from inception through to completion, ensuring technical quality, budget control, and timely delivery
- Designing and overseeing site investigations (with minimal site attendance required)
- Producing and reviewing high-quality technical reports, including:
- Phase 1 & Phase 2 site investigations
- Interpretative geo-environmental and geotechnical reports
- Remediation strategies and verification reports
- Technical risk assessments
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, delegating fieldwork and ensuring best practice
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, regulators, and stakeholders
- Supporting bids, tenders, and business development activities
Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer (Project Manager) Requirements
- Degree qualified in Geology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar
- 5-10 years' experience within a UK consultancy environment
- Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation and risk assessment frameworks
- Experience managing or supporting ground investigation projects
- Confident in technical reporting and reviewing
- Keen to move into (or further develop within) a project management and office-based role
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
