Help Shape the Next Generation of Low-Carbon Buildings

If you care about how buildings actually perform, not just how they look on paper, this is a job opportunity to look at.

This consultancy puts building physics at the centre of design, not as a bolt-on. They're growing their sustainability and performance team and need someone who can bring real technical insight into projects from day one.

They work closely with architects, developers, and end users, this accounts for about 50% of their work and the other 50% comes from main contractors. They are delivering schemes that go beyond compliance and focus on energy, comfort, and long-term performance.

Why This Team Is Different

A lot of the consultancies step back around Stage 3.

These guys don't.

They stay involved through live schemes all the way to delivery, working closely with until project completion including through the site stages. You'll regularly see the same names on projects, so there's real continuity and accountability through to site.

There's also a strong emphasis on the design that they are producing, making sure things actually get built the way they're intended and they work right from the earliest design stages.

The Role

You'll be a key part of delivering building performance strategies across a broad project portfolio.

From early-stage concepts through to post-occupancy, you'll apply building physics principles to make sure performance targets are not just promised - but achieved.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Running dynamic thermal modelling and energy simulations
  • Assessing overheating risk, daylight, and natural ventilation
  • Supporting façade and environmental design strategies
  • Producing compliance outputs (BRUKL, Part L, etc.)
  • Contributing to certifications like BREEAM, LEED, and WELL
  • Working closely with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and developers
  • Supporting performance-led decisions across all RIBA stages

What They're Looking For

  • Degree in Building Physics, Architectural Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in building performance modelling within consultancy
  • Strong skills in IES-VE (or similar tools)
  • Good understanding of UK regs and energy compliance
  • A real interest in low-carbon / net zero design
  • Someone who enjoys working closely with both design teams and delivery teams

Culture & Environment

This is a genuinely a non-authoritarian team where everyone in the business has a say.

They trust people, give them room to grow, and actively support individuals in building their own reputation in the market. It's about getting the best out of people, not micromanaging them.

If you want somewhere you can develop, be heard, and actually influence projects, you'll feel it here pretty quickly.

You'll be joining a consultancy where building performance is taken seriously, and followed through all the way to site. They have a strong pipeline of live projects, real involvement beyond Stage 3, and a team that backs its people.

Competitive salary, solid benefits, and flexible / hybrid working as standard.
