The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Fabric Technician to join the facilities maintenance team at a static pharmaceutical site in Cramlington. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance professional to work within a well-established site environment, helping to maintain the building fabric, ensuring the premises remain safe, compliant and presentable.
The successful candidate will carry out a range of planned and reactive fabric maintenance tasks across the facility, supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the site in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the building fabric.

  • Undertake general building repairs, including minor carpentry, joinery, plastering and decorating.

  • Complete basic plumbing repairs, including replacing taps, fixing leaks and maintaining sanitary fittings.

  • Carry out door, lock, hinge and ironmongery repairs.

  • Maintain walls, ceilings, floors and other internal building finishes.

  • Undertake minor repairs to fixtures, fittings and general site infrastructure.

  • Identify defects, report building issues and recommend appropriate remedial works.

  • Respond to maintenance requests and ensure tasks are completed within agreed timescales.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in line with site procedures.

  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements and site-specific policies.

  • Follow pharmaceutical site protocols, including hygiene standards, permit-to-work procedures and controlled working practices where applicable.

  • Liaise with site management, facilities teams and specialist contractors as required.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a fabric maintenance, building maintenance or general maintenance role.

  • Practical skills across a range of building fabric repairs.

  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied maintenance workload.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to complete maintenance documentation accurately.

  • A flexible, proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Willingness to work within a regulated pharmaceutical environment and follow site-specific procedures.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within a pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory or other regulated environment.

  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.

  • Relevant trade qualifications or practical maintenance training.

  • Experience working on a static commercial or industrial site.

  • Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and contractor management procedures.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary of up to £32,000 per annum.

  • Monday to Friday, daytime working hours.

  • Static site

  • No routine travel between multiple sites.

  • Opportunity to develop your skills within a pharmaceutical facilities environment.

  • A varied role combining planned maintenance, reactive repairs and general building upkeep.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Fabric Technician who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining a safe, professional and well-presented workplace. You will be practical, organised and comfortable working independently while supporting the wider facilities team.

Previous pharmaceutical experience would be advantageous but is not essential for a candidate with strong general building maintenance skills and the right attitude.

If you are an experienced Fabric Technician looking for a stable, Monday-to-Friday days role in Cramlington, this could be an excellent opportunity.
