Senior Structural Engineer

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer or Senior Structural Engineer for its Bristol office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team delivering a varied portfolio of building structures projects, with a mix of new-build developments and existing buildings across a range of sectors.

The consultancy has a strong reputation for providing practical, innovative engineering solutions, working closely with clients, architects and other design professionals from concept through to construction.

The business is looking for candidates at either Project Engineer level, with approximately four years' experience, or Senior Engineer level, with around six years' experience, who are keen to contribute technically and play an active role in project delivery.

The Role

Depending on your experience, responsibilities will include:

• Designing and analysing structural solutions for a variety of building projects.

• Working with reinforced concrete, structural steel and other traditional construction materials.

• Contributing to both new-build developments and the assessment, alteration and refurbishment of existing buildings.

• Producing and reviewing structural calculations, technical reports and design information.

• Coordinating with architects, clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.

• Supporting projects through the various stages of design and construction.

• Taking responsibility for technical delivery, with opportunities to develop project management and client-facing skills.

• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate to your level of experience.

About You

We are interested in hearing from Structural Engineers who have:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a reputable university, ideally with a strong academic background.

• Approximately four years' relevant experience for Project Engineer level, or six years' experience for Senior Engineer level.

• Experience in building structures design within a consultancy environment.

• A good working knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.

• Exposure to both new-build projects and existing buildings.

• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

• A proactive approach to project delivery and a desire to continue developing professionally.

Progress towards Chartered Engineer status, or an ambition to achieve chartership, would be advantageous.
