The Opportunity

An established consulting engineering practice is looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team in Liverpool.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to take the next step in their career, working on a varied portfolio of development-led projects across multiple sectors. The role offers the chance to take ownership of projects, maintain a hands-on involvement in design and delivery, and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative civil engineering team, contributing to the delivery of practical, sustainable and technically robust engineering solutions from initial design through to construction.

The Role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering civil engineering projects, supporting the wider team and ensuring that designs meet client requirements, technical standards and project programmes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and delivery of civil engineering schemes across a range of sectors.

• Preparing and reviewing detailed infrastructure designs, including highways, drainage and external works.

• Managing projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction.

• Coordinating with clients, architects, developers, contractors and other design disciplines.

• Providing technical input and design solutions that are efficient, cost-effective and buildable.

• Liaising with Local Authorities and statutory bodies to obtain technical approvals.

• Managing project programmes, resources and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of the wider team.

• Maintaining a strong focus on quality, client satisfaction and commercial awareness.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.

• At least 6 years' experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy.

• Experience delivering civil engineering design across a variety of sectors.

• A sound understanding of Section 278, 38, 185 and 104 agreements.

• Proficiency in relevant design software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and InfoDrainage, or equivalent packages.

• Strong technical design skills and the ability to manage projects through to delivery.

• Experience in client liaison and a commercially aware approach to project delivery.

• Excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach, with an interest in remaining involved in both design and project management.
