Chiller Engineer - Romford, Essex - £50,000-£60,000 + Paid Travel & Overtime

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chiller Engineer to join an established HVAC service and maintenance specialist covering Essex, East London and the surrounding areas.

Ideal candidate location: Romford or other Essex areas close to East London

The company specialises in the service, maintenance and repair of commercial Air Conditioning and Chiller systems, working across a varied portfolio of commercial clients, including critical data centres, designer outlet centres and major transport environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong, hands-on experience working specifically with Chiller systems. This is a technically demanding position, requiring an engineer who can confidently diagnose faults, carry out compressor changes and strip down compressors to inspect internal components.

The role will predominantly involve Chiller servicing, planned maintenance, breakdowns and repairs. You will also support other Chiller Engineers on larger and more complex pressure-related jobs when required, although you must be capable of working independently on day-to-day tasks.

Applicants must hold a current F-Gas qualification and ideally possess relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualifications in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Genuine practical Chiller experience is essential.

The position will cover Essex (including areas like Romford and Chelmsford), East London and the surrounding areas. The company aims to keep engineers working as locally as possible, with most journeys typically taking between one and one-and-a-half hours. Travel time is paid, including an hour each way, with a 10-hour paid working day.

This is a hands-on role involving physical aspects of service and maintenance work, including the handling and movement of refrigerant cylinders weighing approximately 25kg. Candidates should be comfortable undertaking manual handling duties as part of their day-to-day responsibilities.

Due to the nature of some client environments, candidates must also be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.
