This role sits within one of the largest and most respected Transport Planning teams in Manchester, and with this longstanding structure, it holds fantastic career development and direction for you as a Senior. 

A national consultancy's Transport Planning team is looking for a Senior Transport Planner to join their established Manchester City Centre office. They are looking for a Senior Transport Planner to work on a range of development plans from residential to new schools.

As a Senior Transport Planner, you would be heavily involved in Travel Plans, Transport assessments and Junction modelling using Junctions 9 software (Oscady, Picardy and Arcady). Experience with these individual projects is essential when applying for the role, as you will be taking them from Cradle to Grave and serving as a leading figure in the team.

Senior Transport Planner Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Local Plans, Transport Strategies, Traffic Management Plans and Access Studies for a wide range of development and regeneration projects from small residential sites and onshore wind farms to large-scale mixed-use strategic development sites and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs)
  • Transport modelling, including junction models and developing strategic multi-modal, traffic and micro-simulation models
  • Preparing and/or overseeing technical reports and design drawings, and liaison with the client
  • Involvement in the management of internal and external client relationships
  • Collaborative working with team members and other business disciplines

Senior Transport Planner Requirements:

  • HND or degree in a relevant subject, e.g. Geography (MSc in Transport Planning would be extremely beneficial)
  • Technical knowledge and experience in the assessment and design of Transport Projects
  • Experienced in the application of design standards and current good practice in scheme design and development. This includes but is not limited to; DMRB, TSRGD, LCDS, MfS2, Traffic Signs Manual, LTN 1/20
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and their application in scheme delivery
  • Experience in transport planning, including Transport Assessments, and in contributing to multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience with local junction modelling software packages (Arcady, Oscady, Picady)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
