I’ve been recruiting within building services engineering and sustainability since 1998. I’ve seen a lot of change in that time and moved with it while keeping the values that have served me well: curiosity, caring and being comfortable asking questions. The most consistent feedback I receive is about how I ensure the matches I make are more than skills-based; it means that I often uncover opportunities even the employer didn’t realise existed!

I’m familiar with all aspects of building service engineering, including electrical, mechanical (HVAC), building physics and modelling, energy management, Revit, asset management and senior appointments. I work with organisations ranging from 3 or 4 people and aspirations to become major players to those who are already there. I’ve also gained vast experience supporting local authorities, universities, and in-house teams, so I possess a thorough understanding of the nuances and pressures they operate under.

I am the only recruiter to be an elected Chair of a CIBSE regional committee. It’s fair to say that it raised eyebrows, and that was before I introduced the CIBSE Yorkshire Awards. Talking of awards, I’m a regular judge supporting Constructing Excellence locally and nationally. I have also run four marathons, two of which were planned, and I’m possibly the only person to be rejected by a rescue cat I’d adopted.
