Job Title: Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Leeds
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join a well-established consultancy practice. This position offers autonomy in managing diverse projects while maintaining strong client relationships and developing junior team members.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project delivery from inception to completion, ensuring quality standards and budget compliance
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including drawings, specifications and feasibility studies
- Conduct building surveys across various property types and produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations
- Manage financial aspects of medium-scale projects and coordinate external consultants
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, local authorities and project stakeholders
- Mentor junior surveyors and contribute to team development
- Support business development activities and proposal preparation
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Building Surveying or related discipline
- Substantial experience in project management, building surveys, and contract administration
- Strong background in party wall matters and landlord/tenant issues
- Proven ability to lead and develop team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working within structured quality management systems
Desirable Qualifications
- MRICS membership or working towards chartership
- Experience with modern design software packages
Technical Expertise Required
- In-depth knowledge of both traditional and contemporary construction methods
- Understanding of Building Regulations and relevant legislation
- Familiarity with standard form contracts (JCT experience advantageous)
- Experience across new build and refurbishment projects
- Ability to identify construction defects and propose practical solutions
