The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chartered Principal Bridge Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of bridge and infrastructure projects. You will work as part of a highly experienced, collaborative team, contributing across all project stages from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver design solutions for new and existing bridge structures across a range of materials and structural forms
• Contribute to early-stage project activities including scoping, surveys, inspections, and optioneering
• Lead and manage detailed design, including analysis, calculations, and oversight of drawing production
• Support business development activities including client engagement and tender submissions
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as specifications, reports, and contract documents
• Undertake key project roles including design approvals, technical checking, and site representation
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of sectors
• Manage project budgets and contribute to commercial performance

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent)
• Minimum 7 years' post-graduate experience in bridge engineering within consultancy or contracting environments
• Strong technical expertise in bridge design and assessment
• Experience managing projects and delivering work within budget constraints
• Proven involvement in tenders and fee proposals
• Ability to lead projects or significant work packages
• Experience managing teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders
• Knowledge of structural analysis tools, including finite element modelling
• Strong understanding of UK design standards, including DMRB and Eurocodes
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work to tight deadlines
