Hydraulic/Flood Modeller
London (hybrid working available)
An established, global Engineering and Environmental Consultancy is looking to strengthen its growing flood risk and water team in London with the addition of a Flood Modeller at Consultant or Engineer level. With a strong pipeline of secured work across both public and private sector clients, this is a great opportunity to join a well-regarded team delivering meaningful projects across the UK.
This role sits within a collaborative and well-established water team, supporting the delivery of flood risk, drainage and wider water engineering projects. You will be involved across the project lifecycle, from early-stage optioneering through to detailed design, contributing to schemes that range from development-led work through to larger infrastructure and environmental projects.
From a technical perspective, you will support the development and application of hydraulic and hydrological models, helping to assess flood risk and inform design solutions. This will include building and running models, interpreting outputs and contributing to clear, well-structured technical reports. You will also assist in the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies, with exposure to SuDS and wider sustainable water management approaches.
Working closely with more senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain broad project exposure while developing your own technical capability. The wider team operates across a "one water" approach, meaning you will also have the opportunity to get involved in projects that consider the interaction between flood risk, drainage and wastewater systems.
The role offers a good balance of technical work and project involvement. You will support delivery across multiple projects, contribute to client and stakeholder discussions, and gradually take on more responsibility as your experience grows, including managing smaller packages of work.
To be considered, you should hold a degree in a relevant discipline and have some experience within flood risk, hydraulic modelling or water engineering. You will ideally have exposure to software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW or InfoWorks ICM, along with an understanding of UK hydrological methods such as FEH and the planning and regulatory environment. Experience with GIS tools such as ArcGIS and an appreciation of drainage design principles would also be beneficial.
This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their career within a supportive Consultancy, offering structured progression, a collaborative team environment and a clear pathway toward Senior level.
