A highly regarded, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a national presence is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant to join their growing team in Bristol.

The business is widely recognised as an industry leader in sustainable design, with a Sustainability group embedded across every office in their network. Their approach is innovative and ambitious, operating at the forefront of environmental consultancy - from complex energy modelling and whole life carbon assessments through to BREEAM, WELL, and HQM certifications across a broad range of sectors and project types.

This is an excellent opportunity for a sustainability professional who is looking to join a practice where the discipline genuinely leads, rather than supports, design decision-making. The team is actively involved in industry research, technical development, and the authoring of guidance that shapes wider sector practice.

The Role

You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, taking a hands-on role in the delivery of sustainability strategies and environmental assessments from early design stages through to completion. Responsibilities will span:

• Development and delivery of holistic sustainability strategies
• Energy performance modelling and building performance simulation (including operational energy and overheating)
• Embodied carbon calculations and circular economy consultancy
• Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports, and circular economy statements
• Supporting the development of net zero carbon strategies for new and existing developments
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members across workstream delivery

About You

• Experience working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy in the built environment sector
• Degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline
• Technical competence across one or more of: energy performance modelling (Part L, NABERS, ApacheHVAC, Passivhaus), whole life carbon assessment (OneClick or similar), or net zero carbon strategy
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and design teams effectively
• A genuine passion for sustainability and a drive to deliver real environmental outcomes
