An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate Director Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy delivering major projects across the UK water sector.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater treatment, looking to lead multidisciplinary design teams, influence technical strategy and play a key role in delivering nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Working within a highly respected engineering practice, you will lead the delivery of complex mechanical design solutions for major UK water authorities while supporting the growth and development of a high-performing engineering team.
The Role
As an Associate Director, you will provide technical leadership across a portfolio of major water infrastructure projects, taking responsibility for project delivery, client engagement and team development.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading multidisciplinary mechanical engineering design on complex water and wastewater projects.
Managing the delivery of mechanical design packages, ensuring quality, programme and budget objectives are achieved.
Producing, reviewing and approving technical documentation including calculations, reports, specifications and drawings.
Providing technical leadership across mechanical engineering disciplines and promoting engineering best practice.
Developing and mentoring engineering teams while supporting capability growth across the business.
Working closely with project managers, clients and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Supporting tender submissions, technical proposals and business development activities.
Acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout project lifecycles from concept through to construction support.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
Extensive experience delivering mechanical design within the UK water industry.
Strong background in water and wastewater treatment processes.
Proven experience designing and integrating mechanical equipment including:
Pumping systems
Blowers
Screens
Chemical dosing systems
Excellent understanding of UK engineering standards, CDM Regulations, DSEAR and industry best practice.
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams within a consultancy environment.
Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
Experience managing project programmes, technical delivery and engineering resources.
Proficiency with relevant engineering design and analytical software.
