A respected and long-established Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to join its thriving South Leeds office. With an enviable reputation built over decades, the business delivers technically challenging projects across the commercial, industrial, residential, education, healthcare, energy and infrastructure sectors, combining engineering excellence with a pragmatic and collaborative approach.

This is an opportunity to join a consultancy where technical quality remains at the heart of everything they do. Working alongside an experienced leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex structural engineering projects while helping shape the continued growth and development of the Leeds office. You'll remain hands-on with design and project delivery but will also be trusted to provide technical guidance, mentor engineers and act as a senior point of contact for both clients and colleagues.

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you'll take ownership of projects from initial feasibility through to completion, leading the design and review of structures across steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry. You'll oversee calculations, reports and design outputs, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards whilst remaining commercially focused and buildable. Working closely with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary teams, you'll provide practical engineering solutions that balance innovation with efficiency.

Beyond project delivery, you'll be a recognised technical leader within the business. Supporting the Directors, you'll help manage project workloads, review designs, develop engineering standards and provide mentoring to graduate, project and senior engineers. You'll enjoy sharing your knowledge, encouraging the development of others and helping maintain the collaborative culture that has become synonymous with the business.

The successful candidate will be Chartered (or approaching Chartership) with significant consultancy experience delivering building structures projects across a variety of sectors. You'll be confident leading projects, reviewing complex structural designs and building lasting client relationships, whilst possessing the commercial awareness and communication skills needed to influence projects from both a technical and business perspective.
