Principal / Associate Structural Engineer
Location: Manchester

Calibre Search are currently working with a growing engineering consultancy in Manchester who are looking to appoint a Principal / Associate Structural Engineer to join their expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer who is looking to take on greater technical, project and commercial responsibility within a growing consultancy.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary projects, take ownership of technical delivery and play an important role in developing both the team and wider business. The position would suit someone who is already operating at Principal or Associate level who is ready to take the next step.
The Role
You will be involved in a varied range of engineering projects, taking responsibility for technical delivery while working closely with colleagues, clients and other project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Taking technical ownership of drawings, calculations, reports and design documentation.
Coordinating and reviewing technical work produced by other engineers.
Leading and managing the delivery of multidisciplinary projects.
Analysing technical problems and developing practical, effective engineering solutions.
Applying relevant design guides, standards and legislation.
Understanding and fulfilling designer responsibilities under CDM 2015.
Identifying and managing technical and project risks.
Attending site visits to understand project constraints and construction requirements.
Liaising with clients, contractors and other third parties.
Presenting technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Supporting internal project management, including resource planning and financial control.
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
Preparing fee proposals and project cost estimates.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the team.
Taking an active role in your own professional and technical development.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working within an engineering consultancy environment in Manchester.
Strong structural engineering experience.
Experience managing or leading projects and working with clients in Manchester.
A strong understanding of relevant engineering standards and design principles.
Experience with design and analysis software, including Civil 3D, CAD, Revit and Tekla Structures.
Chartered status, or be close to achieving Chartered status, with ICE or IStructE.
A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline. A Master's degree would be advantageous.
Strong technical problem-solving ability.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to take ownership of work and deliver to deadlines.
An interest in supporting and developing other members of the team.
A commercially aware and proactive approach.
