Are you a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering graduate looking to break into a genuinely specialist, cutting edge area of the industry? We are recruiting a Graduate Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) to join a growing instrumentation and monitoring consultancy based near Oxford, working on next generation fibre optic sensing technology applied to major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

This Graduate Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) role offers full training and genuine hands-on exposure from day one, combining site based work with technical data interpretation and reporting, on projects spanning the UK, Europe, Saudi Arabia and the US.

The Role

As Graduate Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) you will work alongside experienced engineers installing and working with fibre optic monitoring equipment on piling and structural projects, before progressing into analysing monitoring data and supporting the preparation of interpretive reports for design teams. You will develop a strong practical understanding of how geotechnical design intent compares with real world structural performance, gaining exposure to some of the most technically advanced monitoring work in the industry today.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support installation of fibre optic monitoring equipment on site, working alongside senior engineers
  • Assist with data collection and readings on active construction and piling projects
  • Develop skills in interpreting monitoring data against original design assumptions
  • Support preparation of technical reports for geotechnical designers and clients
  • Build foundational knowledge of pile design, retaining structures and Eurocode principles
  • Work across a mix of site based and office based tasks
  • Gain exposure to projects spanning the UK and international markets

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Basic understanding of geotechnical principles, piles, retaining walls, end bearing, factor of safety
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability, an interest in data handling and modelling is a genuine advantage
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable with a mix of site work and office based technical work
  • No prior industry experience required, full training provided
