We're working with a leading civil engineering and utilities contractor who are looking to strengthen their project team with an experienced QHSE Manager / Advisor to support the delivery of a major water infrastructure project at Sizewell.
This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of clean and dirty water works on a high-profile infrastructure project, with responsibility for maintaining high standards across Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental performance.
The role can suit either an experienced QHSE Advisor looking to step up or an established QHSE Manager with experience working on major infrastructure projects.
The Project
You'll be working on a major water infrastructure project at Sizewell, supporting the delivery of clean and dirty water works as part of the wider development.
This is a high-profile project with a strong focus on quality, health & safety and environmental performance, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced QHSE professional looking to work on a major infrastructure scheme.
You'll provide hands-on QHSE support across the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager and wider site team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day QHSE advice and support to the project and site teams
- Monitoring compliance with company, client and legislative requirements
- Carrying out regular QHSE inspections, audits and site tours
- Supporting the preparation, review and implementation of RAMS, ITPs, CPPs and QHSE documentation
- Identifying risks and ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented
- Managing and investigating incidents, near misses and non-conformances
- Supporting corrective and preventative actions through to completion
- Monitoring quality standards and ensuring works are delivered to specification
- Supporting quality inspections, test plans and project documentation
- Delivering toolbox talks, inductions and QHSE briefings
- Promoting a positive QHSE culture across the project
- Working with construction teams to identify opportunities for improvement
- Liaising with the client, supply chain and other project stakeholders
- Supporting internal and client-led audits and assurance activities
- Maintaining accurate QHSE records, reports and performance data
- Supporting environmental and sustainability requirements
- Providing guidance, coaching and mentoring to site personnel
- Challenging poor standards and driving continuous improvement
About You
We're looking for an experienced QHSE Advisor, QHSE Manager, SHEQ Advisor, SHEQ Manager or Health & Safety professional with a background in civil engineering, construction, utilities or water.
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Relevant QHSE/SHEQ experience within civil engineering, construction, utilities or water
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
- Good understanding of Quality Management Systems
- Experience with RAMS, ITPs, audits, inspections and incident investigation
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- A hands-on approach to site-based QHSE management
- The confidence to challenge and influence project teams
Experience within the water sector would be advantageous, particularly clean water, dirty water, utilities or infrastructure projects.
Previous experience working within a nuclear, power or other highly regulated environment would be a strong advantage.
