Senior Civil Engineer - Drainage

Location: Manchester City Centre
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000

Looking to take the lead on drainage design and deliver exciting projects across a growing consultancy?

An established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer specialising in drainage to join its Manchester team. With ambitious growth plans and an expanding project portfolio, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to take ownership of drainage schemes, work closely with clients and contribute to the development of the civil engineering team.

The consultancy works across a broad range of sectors, including residential developments, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, retail, student accommodation and large-scale warehouse and logistics schemes.

The Role

• Lead the design and delivery of drainage strategies for a variety of development projects.

• Undertake surface water and foul drainage design, including sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).

• Prepare drainage calculations, technical reports, drawings and supporting documentation.

• Work on planning applications, detailed design and technical approvals.

• Liaise with clients, local authorities, water companies and other design disciplines.

• Coordinate drainage proposals with highways, structural engineering and wider infrastructure designs.

• Support junior engineers and contribute to project delivery, quality and programme management.

• Help develop client relationships and support the continued growth of the civil engineering team.

About You

• Experience in civil engineering consultancy, with a strong focus on drainage design.

• Good knowledge of surface water drainage, foul drainage and SuDS.

• Experience preparing drainage strategies and detailed design packages.

• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, planning requirements and drainage approval processes.

• Proficiency in appropriate drainage design software, such as Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.

• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage projects independently.

• A proactive approach and an interest in helping grow a developing team.
