Senior Engineer - Drainage Design

Location: Glasgow
Salary: £45,000-£60,000
Working pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week office/site based

We're looking for an experienced Senior Drainage Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering drainage and surface water management solutions across highways, transport, rail, water, energy and private development projects.

You'll play a key role in leading drainage design from concept through to detailed design, overseeing technical deliverables, coordinating project teams and supporting the development of junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead drainage design delivery on standalone projects and larger multidisciplinary schemes.

• Develop drainage solutions from concept through to detailed design.

• Oversee and check drainage designs, 3D models, calculations and drawings to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

• Coordinate resources and manage delivery to programme, budget and quality requirements.

• Work with project managers on budgets, programme and change control.

• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.

• Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development activities.

• Support and mentor graduate engineers and apprentice technicians.

• Contribute to BIM processes, digital innovation and technical best practice.

About You

• Strong experience in drainage design or surface water management.

• Experience delivering infrastructure or transportation drainage projects.

• Good knowledge of drainage design standards and relevant UK regulations.

• Familiarity with digital design tools, 3D modelling, BIM and Common Data Environments.

• Ability to lead technical delivery, check design outputs and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong communication, project management and client-facing skills.

• A collaborative approach, with an interest in developing junior colleagues.

• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Experience supporting projects through construction would be advantageous but is not essential.
