Associate Structural Engineer - Team Lead

Location: Exeter
Salary: £60,000-£85,000 + £5,500 car allowance

We're looking for a Chartered Associate Structural Engineer to establish, lead and grow a structural engineering team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new team within an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, contributing to the growth of its Building Structures business across the Southwest and wider UK.

You'll combine technical leadership, project delivery, team development and business growth, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary colleagues across a diverse range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, develop and grow the structural engineering team in Exeter.

• Provide technical leadership, guidance and assurance across building structures projects.

• Lead project and design delivery, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives are met.

• Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications and technical deliverables.

• Develop and mentor engineers, supporting their technical development and career progression.

• Build and maintain client relationships across Exeter and the Southwest.

• Identify new business opportunities and lead work-winning activities, including bids, tenders and fee proposals.

• Promote a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture.

About You

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer.

• Significant experience delivering building structures projects from concept through detailed design and construction.

• Strong technical knowledge of structural materials, foundations, structural assessment and relevant design standards.

• Proven experience in project, design and commercial management within an engineering consultancy.

• Experience leading, developing or motivating engineering teams.

• Strong client relationship management, communication and business development skills.

• Commercially aware, proactive and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams.

Knowledge of the Exeter and Southwest market, an established client network, and experience growing a structural engineering team would be advantageous.
