This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to take ownership of technically interesting projects across a varied portfolio, including building-led developments, infrastructure, highways and complex refurbishment schemes.
The consultancy works across multiple sectors, with projects ranging from industrial, commercial developments, data centres, logistics, multi-storey buildings, to major infrastructure, ports and rail-related schemes. You will have the opportunity to work alongside engineers from different disciplines, contributing to the successful delivery of projects from initial design through to construction.
The successful candidate will be confident managing their own workload, delivering high-quality engineering solutions and working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
The Role
As Principal Civil Engineer, you will take a leading role in the delivery of civil engineering design, with responsibility for coordinating technical work, supporting project delivery and contributing to the continued development of the team.
The position would suit an experienced engineer who can work independently, provide technical guidance to colleagues and bring a practical, commercially aware approach to project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across a range of sectors.
Undertake and oversee infrastructure, drainage and highways design, depending on project requirements.
Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports and specifications.
Coordinate civil engineering packages with structural engineers and other design disciplines.
Manage project programmes, resources and technical deliverables.
Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other stakeholders.
Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and technicians.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and industry best practice.
Contribute to project planning, design reviews and the resolution of technical challenges.
Support the development of client relationships and identify opportunities to contribute to future project work.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:
Several years' experience in civil engineering design within a consultancy or similar engineering environment.
Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering design, with experience in infrastructure and development-related projects.
The ability to manage projects and deliver technical work with minimal supervision.
Experience producing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
A practical approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
The ability to support and mentor less experienced engineers and technicians.
Chartered status is not essential for this position. Candidates with relevant experience and the ability to make an immediate contribution to the team are encouraged to apply.

Salary of £55,000-£65,000, depending on experience.
