The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to work on a varied portfolio of residential and commercial development projects, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the design and delivery of infrastructure schemes, with responsibilities tailored to their level of experience. Whether you're an experienced Senior Engineer looking to take the next step or an established Principal Engineer seeking a new challenge, this role offers the opportunity to contribute technically and support the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare infrastructure designs and technical drawings for roads, sewers, drainage and residential developments.

  • Produce detailed designs using AutoCAD and relevant infrastructure design software.

  • Undertake highway design, ground modelling and drainage design in accordance with current standards and industry best practice.

  • Liaise with Local Authorities, drainage authorities, clients and other consultants to support project delivery and secure approvals.

  • Contribute to the design of adoptable infrastructure, including works under Sections 38, 104 and 278.

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, technical guidance and the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects to agreed programmes and quality standards.

  • Support technical problem-solving and the development of practical, cost-effective design solutions.

  • Depending on experience, take responsibility for project delivery, technical reviews, client liaison and mentoring junior members of the team.

Requirements

  • A relevant degree or HNC qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrable experience in infrastructure design and drawing production, particularly roads, sewers and residential developments.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and PDS for highway design and ground modelling.

  • Familiarity with the CIRIA SuDS Manual and sustainable drainage design principles.

  • An understanding of Designer responsibilities under the CDM Regulations 2015.

  • Working knowledge of Sewers for Adoption, including the 6th and/or 7th Editions.

  • Experience liaising with Local Authorities and drainage authorities to obtain technical approvals.

  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

For a Principal Engineer appointment, the ability to take ownership of projects, provide technical guidance and support colleagues would be particularly advantageous.

What's on Offer?

  • A permanent position within an established engineering consultancy.

  • A varied workload across residential and commercial development projects.

  • The opportunity to take on responsibility appropriate to your experience and career ambitions.

  • Ongoing professional development and opportunities to broaden your technical expertise.
