Civil Engineer Project Manager Flood and Water Engineering

Are you an experienced Civil Engineer with Project Management experience? Are you a specialist in Flood or Coastal Engineering?

To meet our clients growing business needs and future development aspirations, we are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer, ideally with experience in Flood or Coastal Engineering and Project Management. The successful applicant will be based in their office in Edinburgh and will lead technical design work on a range of civil engineering projects within the flood defence, rail and built environment sector.

We are looking for candidates with sound technical knowledge and ability to manage design projects and work pro-actively with the construction team on an exciting design and build joint venture.

The successful candidate will lead technical design work for civil engineering projects within the flood defence sector. This role will report to an existing design team leader and will contribute to the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including permanent detailed design and build schemes and temporary works. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior staff and, dependant on experience could develop into line management duties.

You must be a self-starter, capable of working without supervision to a high technical standard. Knowledge of relevant design codes and software packages is essential as you will be required to generate, check and review engineering calculations within a wide variety of projects including but not limited to drainage and structural. Excellent teamworking and communication skills are required, and you may have to work with staff outside of the core team based in Leeds. Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are also considered key attributes.

For this role professional membership of a recognised professional institution such as the ICE or CIWEM is preferred and a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering is essential. My client has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has personnel who can support your progress to Chartership. Candidates should have substantial and proven experience of UK consultancy work and/ or design and build experience.
