Associate Civil Engineer
Leeds City Centre

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer ready to step into a leadership role and take real ownership of project delivery in a growing Leeds team. With a strong pipeline of work already in place, this position offers the chance to shape both technical output and team direction, while building a clear path towards senior leadership.

The company itself is a well-established, multi-disciplinary Engineering Consultancy with a strong reputation across the UK. They work across a broad mix of sectors including residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments, supporting projects from early feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction. A large proportion of their work is repeat business, built on long-standing client relationships and a consistent track record of delivery.

In this role, you'll act as the day-to-day lead for Civil Engineering within the Leeds office, taking responsibility for the design and delivery of multiple schemes at once. You'll be overseeing the production and review of drawings, reports and technical submissions, ensuring everything is delivered to a high standard and in line with programme expectations. Alongside this, you'll coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, managing projects from concept through to approval while maintaining strong client relationships throughout.

There's a real people focus here too. You'll be mentoring and supporting junior engineers, graduates and technicians, helping to build capability within the team while fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. You'll also play a role in shaping future workload, supporting proposals and contributing to the continued growth of the civil engineering offering in Leeds.

From a technical perspective, the work is largely development-led, with a strong emphasis on drainage and infrastructure design. You'll be involved in delivering adoptable highways and drainage schemes (S38, S104, S278), preparing engineering support for planning including Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies, and developing practical, buildable solutions across a variety of sites.

They're looking for a Chartered Civil Engineer with a solid background in consultancy, strong hands-on design experience and confidence leading projects. You'll be comfortable using tools such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow, and have a good understanding of UK design standards and approval processes. Just as important is your approach - someone who is proactive, commercially aware and enjoys taking ownership while supporting others around them.

The Leeds office is city centre based, offering a collaborative working environment with strong leadership support already in place. There's a clear progression route here, with this role positioned as a key step towards senior leadership as the team continues to grow.

If you're looking for a role where you can step up, take the lead and genuinely influence both projects and people, this is well worth a conversation.
