Job Title: Senior Landscape Architect / Landscape Clerk of Works
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £40,000 - £47,500

Overview
This role focuses on the delivery of landscape packages across live project sites, combining site presence with technical and coordination input from an office environment. The postholder will act as a key quality and compliance checkpoint, ensuring landscape works are constructed in line with approved designs, specifications and wider project requirements. The position also involves close coordination with engineering, environmental and ecological disciplines to ensure integrated delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the on-site delivery of landscape works from a design compliance perspective, working under the direction of a senior landscape lead.
  • Review workmanship, materials and completed elements to ensure alignment with drawings, specifications and agreed quality standards.
  • Contribute landscape expertise to progress, coordination and programme meetings, flagging risks or delivery challenges as required.
  • Interpret technical landscape information to support contractors and subcontractors during construction.
  • Proactively identify potential delivery issues and help resolve them before programme or quality impacts arise.
  • Assist with managing design changes, coordinating between design teams, project teams and stakeholders to achieve timely resolution.
  • Apply relevant environmental, design and project-wide requirements to site activities, ensuring compliance throughout delivery.
  • Verify that key landscape components are accurately incorporated into constructed works.
  • Collate site records, inspection evidence and documentation to support quality assurance, compliance reporting and formal communications.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in landscape architecture, environmental studies or a related field.
  • Professional membership or working towards chartership with a relevant body.
  • Strong working knowledge of landscape construction specifications and on-site delivery, ideally within infrastructure or large-scale projects.
  • Confidence reviewing complex technical drawings and identifying conflicts or construction issues.
  • Experience inspecting works on site and contributing to quality and compliance processes.
  • Effective communicator, able to build productive relationships across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements on live construction sites.
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple locations and priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence required due to the site-focused nature of the role.
