With investment across the UK water sector continuing to grow, this is an opportunity to join one of the country's largest engineering consultancies and become part of an established clean water modelling team delivering work across both UK and international projects.

Following another successful year and continued growth in its water portfolio, the team is looking for a Clean Water Modeller or Senior Modeller to join its Peterborough office. You'll sit within a specialist Asset Planning & Solutions team, working on projects that help water companies understand how their networks are performing, where improvements are needed and how future investment should be targeted.

The role offers a good mix of modelling, investigation and real-world problem solving. You'll use clean water hydraulic models for both planning and operational purposes, analysing network data, identifying anomalies and investigating infrastructure issues before helping develop practical design solutions.
Depending on the project, you'll also coordinate field testing used for model validation and calibration, work with GIS data and support wider data analysis. There will be opportunities to spend time with clients and on site, giving you a better understanding of the networks you're modelling rather than being permanently desk-based.

You'll be working predominantly with InfoWorks, Synergi or InfoWater, alongside GIS packages such as ArcGIS or MapInfo. The team is also pushing its digital capability, so there's scope to get involved in developing new tools and smarter ways of working. Experience with software such as FME or Visual Basic would be useful here, although it isn't essential.

At Senior level, you'll naturally take on greater responsibility for project delivery and coordination, working directly with clients and stakeholders and helping ensure technical outputs are delivered to the required standard. There's also plenty of scope to develop your project management experience as your career progresses.

They're open to speaking with people at different stages of their modelling career, but you'll need demonstrable experience using clean water modelling software and a genuine understanding and interest in the UK water industry. An engineering, water management or related degree would be ideal, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Previous experience of field testing and data collection, GIS, programming or wider water infrastructure projects would all be beneficial, but they're equally interested in people who have the core modelling background and want somewhere they can continue developing.
