This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone who can operate at both a strategic and practical level. You'll be responsible for developing the company's approach to recruitment, workforce development, training and competency, while ensuring health & safety standards are consistently maintained across its operations.
Working closely with senior management and operational teams, you'll help ensure the right people are in place, properly trained and equipped to do their jobs safely and effectively.
The role will also play an important part in maintaining Meldrum's existing standards and culture as the business continues to develop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the company's policies, procedures and management systems, supporting its commitment to quality, safety and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
  • Carry out audits, risk assessments and site inspections, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring actions are followed through.
  • Develop, review and maintain risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions and sharing lessons learned across the business.
  • Maintain accurate employee, training, competency and compliance records.
  • Work with operational managers to identify training requirements, workforce needs and opportunities for development.
  • Promote a positive health & safety culture, encouraging employees at all levels to take responsibility for their own safety and that of others.
  • Monitor standards across the business and drive continuous improvement in people, training and safety processes.

About You

You'll be an experienced people, health & safety, training or compliance professional who understands the demands of a multi-discipline construction and engineering business.

  • Experience investigating incidents, carrying out audits and driving improvements.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, workforce development and continuous improvement.
  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel between sites and offices as required.
