The Opportunity

We are looking for two experienced Steel Tekla Detailers / Technicians to join a leading structural steelwork business.

The business is recognised for delivering complex structural steel solutions across some of the UK's most prominent construction and infrastructure projects. Its extensive portfolio spans commercial buildings, major stadia and leisure facilities, industrial and distribution developments, transport infrastructure and specialist engineering projects.

With significant expertise across the design, detailing, fabrication and construction of structural steelwork, this is an excellent opportunity to join an established technical team working on challenging, large-scale projects.

Offering a salary of £40,000-£60,000, depending on experience, these positions would suit experienced Tekla professionals looking to develop their careers within a technically advanced steelwork environment.

The Role

As a Steel Tekla Detailer / Technician, you will play a key role in producing accurate 3D models and detailed steelwork drawings, ensuring project information is coordinated and ready for manufacture.

Working closely with the design team, engineers, architects and other internal departments, you will help turn engineering information into practical, accurate detailing solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing and checking detailed 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures.

• Preparing fabrication drawings, marking plans and general arrangement (GA) drawings.

• Interpreting and processing client information, architectural drawings and structural engineering details.

• Ensuring models and drawings are accurate, coordinated and suitable for fabrication and installation.

• Identifying missing or conflicting information and raising requests for information (RFIs) with clients where necessary.

• Coordinating detailing information with design teams, consultant engineers, architects and production departments.

• Assisting with preliminary material requirements and supporting the smooth progression of projects into manufacture.

• Working to project specifications, quality standards and agreed delivery deadlines.

• Applying relevant CAD and BIM processes to support efficient project delivery.

About You

To be considered for these opportunities, you will ideally have:

• Extensive experience using Tekla Structures within structural steel detailing.

• A strong background in steelwork detailing and the production of fabrication drawings.

• Experience producing 3D models, GA drawings and marking plans.

• The ability to interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings accurately.

• A good understanding of steel fabrication requirements and detailing principles.

• Experience identifying technical issues and coordinating information with clients and project teams.

• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

• Good general IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

• A working knowledge of BIM processes.

Advanced knowledge of Tekla firm folders, settings and custom configurations would be advantageous.
