The Opportunity

An established civil engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Senior Civils Design Engineer to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong civil engineer with a background in highways and drainage design for residential developments who is looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial appraisal through to detailed design and approval.

The Role

You will be involved in the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure for residential developments, including:

• Highway and drainage design for residential schemes.

• External levels and site-wide level design.

• Plot drainage design.

• Site appraisals and drainage feasibility studies.

• Surface water and foul drainage strategies.

• Preparing and progressing technical submissions.

• Working with Local Lead Flood Authorities (LLFAs) in England.

• Working with Sustainable Drainage Approval Bodies (SAB) in Wales.

• Section 38 highway submissions and approvals.

• Section 104 sewer adoption submissions and approvals.

• Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and other consultants.

• Independently managing design packages from concept through to approval.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A minimum of 5 years' design office experience within civil engineering.

• Strong experience in highways and drainage design for residential developments.

• The ability to independently undertake civil engineering designs.

• Experience with site appraisals and drainage feasibility studies.

• Good knowledge and understanding of Flood Risk Assessments.

• Strong working knowledge of Section 38 and Section 104 submission and approval processes.

• Experience dealing with LLFAs in England and SAB requirements in Wales.

• Strong technical knowledge of residential infrastructure design.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

• A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in the following software is required:

• AutoCAD / Civil 3D

• Causeway PDS

• Causeway Flow
